Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” -Matthew 19:26
Have you seen the television show “God Friended Me”? It’s is about a twentysomething named Miles who does not believe in God, and is very angry with God for his mother’s death when he was around 10 years old. Miles is estranged from his father, who is a pastor, who believes in God and who does not blame God for his wife’s death.
One day Miles gets a “friend request” from God on Facebook. As soon as he deletes it, he gets another one and deletes it, and many more until he eventually accepts. The “God Account” periodically sends Miles “friend suggestions” for people needing help. Miles admits that the God Account has turned his life upside down, but it has brought some incredible people into his life, like Cara, the first God Account person whom he helped. Cara then becomes one of his helpers who now assists him in helping others when a request is sent. Miles wonders who is behind the God Account and why he was chosen to help. He decides to tell others about the God Account and about God in his podcasts called, “The Millennial Prophet.”
God has personally brought 3 rather complicated “friend requests” to me in the last year. If I ever would have stopped to question, “why me?” or “do I even have the ability to do this?” I would have quit at the onset.
Impossible tasks make us want to quit, but as each story unfolded for me, there were so many details that came together so quickly that I kept going. I know now, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God was in charge. He was saying to me, “I’ve got this!”
Who is in your God Account? How can you help? Here are some things for you to consider:
God wants us to spread the Gospel to others.
God asks us to do things for others according to His perfect plan, and we may never know why.
God sends “friend requests” to us to help others in need. When he does, are you stopping to listen?
Are you willing to be obedient to God to glorify Him?
When God gives you a task to complete, He is always there to help.
