Matthew 7:7-11
When you come to a passage of Scripture, my hope is that you slow down and really soak it in. Get in the habit of considering the context (what comes before and what comes after). Our aim is always to pull out of the text what the author is trying to say. We want to avoid reading our own opinions and biases into the passage.
After you’ve read through this passage a few times, what observations do you make? What does the text appear to be saying? What is it not saying?
If you’re a parent or a grandparent, describe the feeling you get when you give a gift to your child or grandchild. If you’re a child, describe the feeling you get when you receive a gift from your parents or grandparents. Now, go read the passage again. What comes to mind?
How would you describe your relationship with God? Be honest. Is he the Big Guy in the Sky that you respect? Or is God your Heavenly Father you adore? Somewhere in between?
Do you have any confidence in your relationship with God?
How would you describe your prayer life?
