Growing Forward Together

What a great time to be here at FBC. God is stirring hearts and people are responding. New faces hungry for Truth are making their way to our pews. People longing for connection are showing up in our parking lot. Even those who are longtime attenders are finding their love for Jesus being rekindled. Like Narnia, the snow is melting because Aslan is on the move! Growth is happening all around us...and you know what? Change is here.

Keep in mind that there are over 100,000 people within a 30 mile radius of our church. The large majority of those people don’t know Jesus. Because we take the Bible seriously, we’ve got to remind each other that those who don’t walk the narrow way of Jesus Christ are left wandering on the wide highway to hell. That should be sobering to our church.

We are poised on the crosshairs of two major highways ready to serve this region. There are marriages fraying with each passing arguement. Children are being raised in broken homes. Teens are being lulled to sleep by a media-crazed world. There are thousands all around who have never heard the good news that God makes all things new! What are we going to do about it?

We’re going to take one step at a time. Galatians chapter five tells us to keep in step with the Holy Spirit. In other words, where the Lord moves, we move. We don’t get out ahead and don’t want to fall behind. We want to have the wisdom and courage to follow where our Lord leads.

Here’s what I need from you: be faithful. Be faithful to be who God’s molding you to be. Be faithful with the time God has given you. Be faithful with the money God has given you. Be faithful with talents, vision, and passion God has given you. If there is something burning in you...go for it! Don’t be motivated by fear. God did not give us a spirit of timidity. Move forward in the courage and power of the Holy Spirit.

We need each other as we all move forward. As you see things around that need to be done, don’t wait. If you see the need...meet the need. If you see someone who needs to be greeted...go say hello. If someone asks where the nursery is located...give them an escort. If the pew is getting full...make room for people to sit. If you see that we need teachers, caregivers, funds, etc...don’t hesitate. Live generously. Give yourself. That’s what worship is all about. Offer yourself to serve the Lord however he leads.

As we continue to grow, we’ve got to keep in step with the Lord. Keep asking, “Lord, how can I serve you today?” When he answers and you see the need...go for it!

I’m cheering you on!
